Our Proud History

VVRNM Subbiah Chettiar, hailing from Nattarasankottai, was adopted into the VVRNM family of Kanadukathan at a tender age. Despite being raised in Kanadukathan, he cherished his birthplace in Nattarasankottai dearly. Filled with gratitude, Subbiah Chettiar aspired to establish a school for underprivileged girls, a facility that was lacking in Nattarasankottai. This led to the birth of the Kanadukathan Muthiah Subbiah Chettiar Girls Higher Secondary School in 1967.

Through extensive deliberations with VKN Kannappen Chettiar of Nattarasankottai, the idea for the school materialized. In 1967, the school was inaugurated by the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Honorable Dr. C.N. Annadurai. Generously, Kannappen Chettiar provided a building of his own to accommodate the school, and he assumed the role of the first correspondent for the institution.

In 1967, the school commenced its operations with 93 students, 7 teachers, and 5 office staff. Initially, it offered classes from the sixth to the ninth standard. Recognizing its excellence, the Government of Tamil Nadu bestowed the status of one of the finest government-aided schools, granting permission to introduce the 10th and 11th standards starting in 1969.

Witnessing the remarkable endeavors of the founder, Kolan Chettiar, the Nagarathar community of Nattarasankottai generously donated a 3.5-acre plot of land to the school. The foundation stone was laid in 1969 by the Tamil Nadu Education Minister, and the main building was inaugurated in 1972 by the Tamil Nadu Governor.

Between 1967 and 1980, the school made gradual and steady progress. As a result of its commendable achievements, it was upgraded to a higher secondary school in 1981, offering science, arts, and nursing as the primary subjects. Presently, the school boasts a student population of just over 400 girls. Another noteworthy milestone occurred in 1986 when the government granted permission for the school to provide vocational teacher training.

The school commences each day with a prayer during the assembly, and students receive congratulations on their birthdays as well as for any awards they have earned in competitions organized by the State Authorities.

Recognizing the importance of extra-curricular activities, the school committee took the initiative to establish a reputation in sports and games. As a first step, a stadium was constructed in 1972 and inaugurated by the esteemed Sivagangai Raja. In 1969, the government established a hostel for underprivileged girls in Nattarasankottai.

In addition to regular academic subjects, the school offers various supplementary classes and vocational programs. These include spoken English classes, basic computer literacy, arts and crafts, and tailoring. The school provides instruction in Bharatanatyam, music, and yoga, which have gained significant popularity among the girls.

Being a well- known school, not only in Nattarasankottai, but around the surrounding villages, many parents prefer to send their girls to KMSC school.

For the last academic year 2022 – 2023, the school had a 100% result for the 12 Standard and 10 Standard Public Exams.

School Logo

The school logo holds deep symbolism, featuring an image of Goddess Saraswati, the divine embodiment of knowledge, wisdom, and the arts. This choice reflects the school's commitment to fostering a culture of learning and serves as a constant reminder to the teachers to impart not only academic knowledge but also the invaluable qualities of righteousness (dharma) and love to their students
